Pensioner' Alliance
The Pensions Advisory Service (TPAS) is an independent
non-profit organisation that provides information and
guidance on the whole spectrum of pensions covering State,
company, personal and stakeholder schemes.
The Pensions Regulator replaces
OPRA and has been created by the Pensions Act 2004. It has wider
powers and a new proactive, risk-focused approach to regulation.

The Pensions Ombudsman investigates and decides complaints
and disputes about the way that pension schemes are run.
The Pension Protection Fund established by the
Pensions Act 2004 to pay compensation to members of defined
benefit pension schemes which have been wound up

to insolvency and meet certain eligibility criteria.
Personal Accounts Delivery Authority runs a national,
trust-based pension scheme called 'personal accounts' introduced
by the Pensions Acts 2006 and 2007 — and supports the process by
which people are enrolled in this or another suitable pension
scheme.
The Government Actuary's Department which undertakes surveys
of occupational pension schemes every 4 to 5 years.
Pension Trends from the Office
for National Statistics, provides a statistical backdrop for the
debate on pensions. It looks at both economic and social factors
that influence changes in pension provision and pension income
over time.
Raising Standards of Trustee Education
aims to improve the
quality of education, training and learning for all trustees of
pension schemes in the UK.
The National Association of Pension Funds which represents
the pension providers. A useful summary of

FRS17.com: a website which seeks to provide an explanation

Pensions Theft (or the
Pensions Action Group) run by the former employees of
ASW supports those whose pension funds were wound up between 11
June '03 and 6 April '04 and are seeking compensation from the
Financial Assistance Scheme
Pay Up for Pensions - In the light of the growing pensions
crisis the TUC is campaigning to Pay Up For Pensions.
The National Pensioners' Convention - the umbrella body for
pensioners' groups throughout the UK. Mostly concerned with
Basic State Pension issues.
The Pensions Policy Institute is an educational charity set
up to promote, on a non-political basis, the study of pensions
and other retirement provision. It regularly publishes a digest
of
pension facts from various sources.
FairPensions
seeks responsible investment by UK pension
funds.
John Ralfe Consulting: Was responsible for the Boots Pension
Fund moving out of equities into bonds before the stock market
crash. Website has many articles, many highly critical of
pension fund actuaries and management.
Dr Ros Altmann - an adviser to the government and pensions
industry. She is assisting the Pensions Theft movement (see
above).
The
Occupational Pensions Defence Union protects pension funds
by providing insurance cover to trustees, administrators and
sponsoring employers.
Pension Adviser Review offers advice and services to
help trustees operate their pension schemes in their choice of
actuaries, advisers, investment consultants, and communications
professionals.
Pension Funds Online - online database of UK and
international pension funds and their advisers. (Subscription

Blacket Research Ltd - measures how good your
investment consultant's advice is in relation to fund manager
appointments and also how good the trustees' decisions are.
